Roots is a community of educators and education leaders who love thinking about how to do learning differently to better serve ALL young people. It is a place to share generously, to learn out loud, to attend when you are able and to build networks towards justice, equity and powerful learning.
It is a space to learn and grow personally as well as professionally and a growing family that cares deeply for each other, our students and our planet.
Share Generously: Share your ideas widely and without reservation.
Be Kind: Kindness brings out the best in all of us. A community built on kindness is a community that will last.
Hold Hope: This process isn’t easy. Seriously, education is one of the hardest systems to implement positive change in. We are all in this together. Stay hopeful.
Think and Rethink: Many of us have been doing this a long time, and may have arrived at the “right” answer. In this group we ask you to hold your thoughts and opinions lightly as we seek to change together and find the best ways forward.
Listen and Learn: Everyone in this community has many things to teach and share and many things to hear and learn. Active, empathetic listening is a requirement of the Roots community.
